Since Malthus so many scientists, economists and planners have been introducing different family planning methods and schemes to control population. Reason is limited natural resources may not be sufficient to ever growing population. And according to them this will also lead to do a lot of mining, deforestation, killing of wildlife, refining of mineral ores, manufacturing, transportation, use of hydrocarbons, petroleum, petrochemical products, etc. This inturn need a lot of electricity. Electricity needs thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar or wind energy projects. They in turn need a lot of forest clearance and so on. The result is different sorts of pollution - chemical, noise and light pollution.
According to economists, industrialists and scientists population growth brings different kinds of problems to humanity especially pollution and degenerative diseases also. Besides this water crisis another problem. Food production and supply another issue. All these reasons make anyone believe that population control is must. But what about consumption control? Does a family of three members need a house that can accommodate thirty or three hundred members? Should we allow people to construct houses according to monetary capacity of a person or quantum of loans a bank can sanction? Does government suggest children per a family according to reproductive capacity of the couple?
Why shouldn't government control sizes of houses according to the sizes of families? Small houses need less material for construction, less resources for maintenance and less money for both. So we can effectively control deforestation, wildlife destruction, pollution, damage of human body organs, diseases and deaths. As the greed is controlled different ways for bribery, corruption, hawalas, scams, etc can be effectively closed.
In addition to above advantages the land saved due to small houses can be used to grow herbs, bushes and trees of multiple use. The members of the family get an opportunity to grow fresh uncontaminated fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry and cows. They get sufficient sunlight, tree shade and cool breeze. And a great space and time to involve in physical activities too. Instead of favouring business companies and industrialists to grow the government and its great institutions should start thinking about conservation of biodiversity in wilderness and also the growth of biodiversity around human habitats. People can start spending time in gardens, breathing fresh air and watching birds around instead of being suffocated in indoor pollution throughout the life!
